Bedroom Cleaning

Considering we spend about one-third of our lives in the bedroom, it is good to keep it clean and organized.

Weekly Cleaning

  • Bed – wash sheets weekly.
  • Put clothes away daily.
  • Dust light fixtures.
  • Dust and organize nightstand.
  • Shine mirror.
  • Empty trash can.
  • Vacuum and mop floors.

Detail Cleaning

  • Dust ceiling fan.
  • Wash walls.
  • Clean windows and window coverings.
  • Dust pictures and wall hangings.
  • Organize closet and chest of drawers.
    • Sort through clothes – keep, donate, re-purpose.
      • Keep – Re-organize your clothing so your summer clothing is more accessible.
      • Donate –The most beneficial donations are those items that are in excellent condition, and you just don’t want anymore.  If you no longer have a use for an item donate it so someone else can use it.  Do not donate anything that is wet, moldy or beyond repair.
      • Re-purpose – I have a stash of old clothes in my sewing room waiting to be re-purposed into a quilt or a gift bag or whatever!  Some clothes are simply re-purposed into rags.
  • Beds
    • Wash mattress pad and pillow protectors monthly.
    • Replace bedding seasonally (winter and summer).
    • Vacuum mattress seasonally.
    • Flip or rotate mattress seasonally.
    • Wipe down headboard and foot board.  If you have wooden furniture now is a good time to condition it with a product like Old English lemon oil.
    • Pull out bed to clean back of headboard and wall behind.
  • Wash trash can.
  • Clean baseboards.
