Broccoli salad is a delicious addition to my collection of favourite salads. This is a basic recipe, but you can get creative with it by adding raisins, dried cranberries or nuts. You can also substitute some of the broccoli with cauliflower for a bit more flare.

Broccoli salad is a delicious addition to my collection of favourite salads. This is a basic recipe, but you can get creative with it by adding raisins, dried cranberries or nuts. You can also substitute some of the broccoli with cauliflower for a bit more flare.

Ingredients
- 6 cups Broccoli chopped into small pieces
- 1 Small red onion finely chopped
- 1 cup Cheddar cheese grated
- ¾ cup Bacon bits about 8 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- Dressing
- ¾ cup Mayonnaise
- ¼ cup White vinegar
- ¼ cup Granulated sugar
Instructions
- Combine first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl.
- * For convenience, I buy real bacon bits and store them in the freezer. Before I add them to the salad, I like to reheat them in the oven or microwave.
Dressing
- In a 2-cup measure, stir dressing ingredients together until smooth.
- Pour dressing over salad and gently toss to coat.
- Transfer to a serving bowl.
- Chill until ready to serve.
