Brown Sugar Sauce

This “not too sweet” brown sugar sauce takes desserts such as gingerbread, blueberry cake or spiced applesauce cake to a whole new level. It’s great on ice cream, too!

This “not too sweet” brown sugar sauce takes desserts such as gingerbread, blueberry cake or spiced applesauce cake to a whole new level. It’s great on ice cream, too!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown sugar packed
  • 1 ½ tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Boiling water
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • ½ tsp Vanilla

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, flour and salt.
  • Add boiling water and cook over medium low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  • Stir in butter and vanilla.
  • Serve warm over dessert or ice cream.
  • This stores well for several days, if it lasts that long!
  • Reheat on stove top or put in the microwave for a few seconds.
