I purchased my first piece of cast aluminum bakeware – a beautiful English Shortbread baking pan by Nordic Ware.
When cared for properly, cast aluminum bakeware will last forever. Here are a few tips that were on the packaging of my baking pan.
- Before first use and after every use, hand wash in warm soapy water. Extended soaking is not recommended.
- Before each use, brush with butter or shortening using a pastry brush and dust with flour.
- Do not use regular cooking spray to grease the pan.
- Fill pan no more than 3/4 full to prevent overflowing.
- Do not use metal utensils, scouring pads or abrasive cleaners.
