Chocolate Chip Cookies

This family favourite is a recipe I received at a bridal shower many years ago – Jodine’s “way better than the mother-in-laws” chocolate chip cookies.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup                          Butter, room temperature

3/4 cup                      Sugar

3/4 cup                     Brown sugar, packed

2                                  Eggs

1 tsp                           Vanilla

2 1/4 cups                All-purpose flour

1 tsp                           Baking soda

1/2 tsp                       Salt

2 tbsp                        Cornstarch

2 cups                        Chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cornstarch in a bowl and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter.
  • Beat in both sugars, then add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Gradually add flour mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about 3 inches between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Let cookies cool on the cookie sheet for a couple minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Wipe cookie sheet off with a paper towel between batches.

Enjoy!

Julia… I had forgotten the name for them! I love it!

I still use that recipe, too…my boys love it! I’ll need to try the cornstarch tip now.

At Chrsitmas time, I had add a tiny amount of crushed candy canes to make the cookies more festive.

    1. Great idea to add the candy canes! I will have to try that next year!
