Cleaning Your Coffee Maker

When your coffee maker becomes sluggish and water stops running through it, you don’t need to replace it, you just need to clean it.

Commercial cleaners will clean your coffee maker, but why not use something you already have at home? Vinegar.

Here’s what you do:

  • Pour equal parts of water and white vinegar in the water reservoir and turn it on. I fill my reservoir up so that’s 6 cups of water and 6 cups of white vinegar.
  • If the coffee maker is really plugged up, it will work and work, but no vinegar solution will come through. Let the machine work for 5-10 minutes then turn it off and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  • Repeat this 3-4 times and eventually the vinegar works its way through the machine and water flows through it again.
  • Run a full pot of water through the machine a couple of times to rinse out the vinegar.
  • Clean all removable parts and wipe out water reservoir.
