Marigolds add a bright and cheerful touch of sunshine anywhere you plant them.
They are easy to grow and are an essential part of a vegetable garden as they help keep insects, beetles and slugs away from my garden.
Marigolds require basic care and watering. They grow in almost any soil and as long as you deadhead the old blooms, you will have blooms well into the fall.
After the garden has been harvested, I like to take advantage of their hardiness. I transplant the marigolds into planters and place them along the front of my house. The deep red, orange and yellow blooms fit in perfectly with fall decor.
