Simple Stovetop Rice
Don't have a rice cooker? No problem. You don't need one! Here is a foolproof way to make rice on the stove top.

Equipment
- 1 stainless steel pot with lid medium
Ingredients
- 1 cup Long grain rice
- 1 ¾ cups Water
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Butter
Instructions
- Rinse rice in a strainer.
- Place in stainless steel pot.
- Add water, salt and butter.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Boil for about two minutes, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and let cook for 30 minutes without lifting the lid.
- When water is completely absorbed the rice is cooked.
- Turn off heat and let stand until ready to serve.
Notes
Cook rice with a 1.75 water : 1 rice ratio. This recipe is easily multiplied to make for a larger crowd. Adjust salt to taste. Be sure to adjust saucepan size for larger quantities.
Variations: Add chicken bouillon or other seasonings for added flavour.
