These sloppy Joes are a quick, tasty weekday meal. Something the whole family will enjoy. Complete the meal with fries and coleslaw.

Equipment

  • 1 large skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 Onion small, minced
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 398 mL Tomato sauce 1 can
  • ¼ tsp Chilli powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Prepared mustard
  • ¼ cup Ketchup
  • ½ cup Water as needed
  • 6 Hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Preheat a large skillet or frying pan.
  • Brown beef until no pink is showing.
  • Add ½ cup water to the beef and stir to rinse off the fat, then drain off the liquid.
  • Add onions and cook a couple minutes, then add the garlic.
  • Stir in flour.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients, except the water. Add to the meat mixture and stir.
  • Reduce heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes while you prepare the rest of the meal. Stir occasionally.
  • Add water as necessary to maintain a saucy consistency.
  • Serve on a toasted bun. Toast your buns by buttering each half and placing them face down on a hot skillet or putting them under the broiler for a couple minutes.
