Swiss Steak Supreme

This Swiss steak supreme makes a rich gravy and can be made in the slow cooker for an easy weekday meal. I serve it over mashed potatoes with a garden salad on the side.

Serves 6.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups                        Tomato sauce

1 tsp                           Dried whole oregano

1 tsp                           Salt

½ tsp                          Ground pepper

1 ¾ lb                         Beef round steak, trim fat, cut into portion sizes or 1-inch cubes

1                                  Large onion, diced

1                                  Green pepper, diced

1 ½ cups                    Small whole fresh mushrooms, cut in half or one can of mushrooms

DIRECTIONS:

  • Combine first four ingredients in small bowl.
  • Place steak in slow cooker.  Pour 1/3 of sauce over and between pieces.
  • Add vegetables to slow cooker evenly over top.
  • Add remaining sauce.
  • Cover.
  • Cook on low for eight hours.
